Maggie brings 30 years of pragmatic real estate development experience to Hob Knob Realty. She started two real estate companies in Boulder, Colorado, and was Director of Asset Management for several large national shopping center portfolios before moving to Martha’s Vineyard.

Here, she directed an extensive renovation and re-positioning of the Hob Knob, an Edgartown based eco-luxury boutique hotel, which has become one of the island’s premier first-class resort destinations. The hotel is an eight-year recipient of awards for Best Bed-and-Breakfast on Cape Cod and the Islands, from Cape Cod Life magazine and Martha’s Vineyard Magazine. Travel and Leisure, Elle and Boston magazines have all featured the Inn in their pages.

With Maggie’s discerning eye and deft management skills, Hob Knob Construction has built and renovated a diverse portfolio of residential properties to the highest standards of quality and distinction. She is available to consult with customers and clients who wish to explore the possibilities of home renovation projects prior to purchasing or selling real estate.

Maggie is active in island community projects, such as the capital campaign for the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard, and is currently president of the Edgartown Board of Trade.

Jan delivers strategic vision, entrepreneurial innovation, marketing savy, and operational expertise stemming from 30 years of senior executive level global management experience in top Fortune Fifty Corporations. Previously based in Los Angeles, Jan served as the Global President for The Walt Disney's Interactive Division, head of The Children's Publishing Division, and part of the start up team for The Disney Stores Division.

Mergers, acquisitions and turn around scenarios were an integral part of her career as a business innovator and leader of several new businesses for Disney and others. She has started over a dozen businesses and took the helm of a global turnaround which delivered a high degree of profitability and success. Real Estate transactions and development have been an integral part of the process in driving high growth to multi-disciplined business ventures. Her most recent consulting practice brought her to Hob Knob's Martha Vineyard business portfolio. She now lives in Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard.

She is a Massachusetts licensed real estate agent and distinctive differentiator for our Luxury Real Estate Agency and serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the whole of the Hob Knob Companies.

Vera Thornton has lived and worked on Martha’s Vineyard for 30 years. She has been in the hospitality industry for most of her professional career, owning and operating two Edgartown restaurants while raising her family and serving on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club. “This is the perfect spot to raise children and develop a close sense of community, says Vera, who has served as a Brownie leader, parish womens’ group vice president, and hockey mom. After selling the restaurants, Vera was recruited by her Main Street neighbor Maggie White into the Hob Knob fold, and managed the Hob Knob for six years, drawing on her people skills and hospitality training to help bring the Inn to the forefront of luxury lodgings on the Vineyard.

After the creation of Hob Knob Realty in 2003, it was a natural seque for Vera to apply her expertise in the area of luxury rentals, where she developed an international client list of discriminating Island visitors. Now working in sales and buyer brokerage while still maintaining a prominent presence in the rental market, Vera is dedicated to providing the highest level of service, support, and integrity, while maintaining a legendary warmth, grace, and sense of humor. Now the proud grandmother of three, all living on the Vineyard, she lives with her husband of 34 years in Edgartown.

Danika brings a strong commitment to the real estate profession, and a wealth of experience and industry knowledge to her clients at Hob Knob Realty. Her background in predevelopment planning, marketing and sales of new and existing properties, and product repositioning offers both buyers and sellers strategic advantage. With over $750 million dollars in residential sales to her credit, Danika is a seasoned professional with the ability to bring even the most complex deals to a successful conclusion. 

Danika has been a Martha’s Vineyard seasonal resident since childhood.  She first relocated to the island permanently in 2002, where she began her real estate career at a boutique, Edgartown real estate firm.  In 2004 Danika moved to Manhattan, where she continued to pursue her real estate profession, first selling luxury Fifth Avenue and Park Avenue cooperatives on Manhattan's "gold coast," and then as a Director of Sales at Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group, overseeing the sale of some of Manhattan’s most architecturally significant new development projects. In 2009 Danika returned to Martha’s Vineyard once again, and happily joined Maggie White and the Hob Knob Realty team in 2010. 

Danika is a graduate of The University of Massachusetts Amherst, with significant study completed at Oxford University, and holds degrees in both English Literature and Philosophy. She is a member of the Martha’s Vineyard Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors, and a freelance English tutor for local high school students.
