Earl has come and gone, leaving warm and sunny Labor Day weekend in its wake.   

Take a trip to the beach, charter the Hob Knob Whaler for an afternoon, or just stroll through town and enjoy the sun and breeze.  On a day like today, there is never a shortage of things to do on Martha's Vineyard.

Great weather for a bike ride today!  Grab a box lunch and head out.  Tour Cape Pogue, or stay on the paths to Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven and West Tisbury.

Down Island Farmers Market, Vineyard Haven:  Fresh local produce, cheeses, baked goods, coffee, olive oils, flowers, handmade jewelery and skincare products, natural dog biscuits and so much more.  At the Tisbury Wharf Company Marina 9am - 1pm

Featherstone Flea & Fine Arts Market - 9:30am - 2pm

"Sounds Like Summer" Free Concert Series:  On the lawn in Edgartown Library.  Concert concludes with jazz duo, Eric Johnson & Jeremy Berlin.  6:30pm

It's sunny and 84 degrees today on Martha's Vineyard!  A perfect day to try a new island activity:

CAPE POGUE NATURAL HISTORY TOUR:  Enjoy a 3 hour, oversand vehicle exploration through Chappaquiddick's sand barrier beach!  Your guided tour includes an excursion through the rare maritime forests that inhabit the farthest reaches of the island.  Transportation from the Chappy side of the ferry is available with registration.

VINEYARD GHOST WALKING TOUR:  One hour ghost tours of Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, and Vineyard Haven led by lantern light.  The tours created by Holly Nadier author of "Haunted Island" and "Vineyard Supernatural" include many great stories, mysteries, and great fun!  8pm, from various locations in Edgartown, Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven

.....or, take advantage of this beautiful day with a stroll through town for shopping, or a scenic walk through the Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary.

MV Film Festival Summer Series:  The Kids are Alright, an insightful hilarious look at the complicated modern family.  8pm at the Chilmark Community Center

GRAND ILLUMINATION!!!  Gather at the MV Camp Meeting Association's Tabernacle in Oak Bluffs for a sing-along, followed by the annual Grand Illumination when hunderds of lanterns hung on gingerbread porches and line walkways, are lit.  This tradition, dating from the turn of the century, will deight the whole family.  Sing-along at 7pm, Illumination at dark

Wednesday, Aug. 18th:  Grand Illumination and Community Sing, Oak Bluffs Tabernacle
Glowing lanterns line walkways and decorate colorful gingerbread cottages and stately Victorian homes, creating a visual sensation seen just once a year.

Thursday August 19 - Sunday August 22:  M.V. Agricultural Fair, Ag Hall, West Tisbury
Rides, games, shucking and fiddle contests, skillet toss, horse pull, dog and livestock shows and more! 

Friday, August 20:  Annual Oak Bluffs Fireworks Display, Oak Blufs Harbor at dark
Make your way to the Oak Bluffs Harbor, and see an amazing display of colorful fireworks illuminate the sky and the harbor!  Not to be missed!

Happy Fourth of July!!

The Hob Knob Team is so excited to celebrate Fourth of July in Edgartown.   This year's beautiful weather is just about perfect, foreshadowing a stunning fireworks display over the Edgartown harbor, and a long weekend perfect for the beach and barbecues.
